Education for Media and the Arts
In the spirit of pioneering, since 2001, Colegio Helyos has been implementing the “Education for Media and the Arts” program. Paired up with Art classes, this proposal’s main objective has been to prepare the students’ critical thinking as pertains to a wide range of content and various means of communication. Through the students’ reflections and productions using such resources as photography, video, social networks, and other contemporary art languages like installation and performance, this project has received both national and international recognition, and has been cited as an example in several published articles, including in the magazine, Revista Pátio. Considered as a possible recipient of the Arte na Escola Cidadã award in Sao Paulo, it was selected in the Media World Cup lV for Children and Adolescents category, which happened in Rio de Janeiro.
